5 Stone Buildings participates in Bar Council’s Bar Placement Programme
This week 5 Stone Buildings has hosted a student as part of the Bar Council’s Bar Placement Scheme supported by the Social Mobility Foundation. The Bar Placement Scheme is aimed at widening participation in mini-pupillage and allowing students from different backgrounds to gain experience of life at the Bar. Students shadow practising barristers and receive advocacy training from the Inns of Court College of Advocacy. As well as reading papers and accompanying members of chambers to court, students have the opportunity to discuss routes to the Bar and ask about members’ experiences and practices.
Chambers has been a member of the scheme for several years and we are pleased to participate as part of the profession’s increasing commitment to widening access to the Bar and increasing applications from non-traditional backgrounds. We look forward to hosting students in future as well as supporting the Chancery Bar Association’s forthcoming work on diversity and access.
