Christopher Whitehouse

It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the death of Chris Whitehouse.  

Chris retired from chambers last year after a distinguished career spanning almost fifty years in practice. Described by Chambers & Partners as “legendary” and “encyclopaedic”, he was among the foremost private client tax practitioners, with a dedicated following of clients who prized his expertise.  His published works combined his authority with a style that made them easy to understand and all the more valuable for it.  He was a great favourite on the lecture circuit, where he displayed his enthusiasm for his subject with gentle humour.  Indeed, Chris never wore heavily his professional brilliance.  In all aspects of his professional life he was generous with his time and knowledge, approachable, warm and welcoming.
