Judgement handed down in Lonsdale v Wedlake Bell LLP [2024] EWHC 712 (KB).

Judgment has been handed down in an interim application in proceedings for professional negligence against a London firm of solicitors.  The claim arises from negligent advice in the administration of a trust and is brought by the trustees, beneficiaries and settlor, represented by Sarah Haren KC and Payne Hicks Beach.

The defendant solicitors applied for summary judgment or strike out on various grounds including, they argued, that they owed no duty to the beneficiaries and that any claim by the other claimants was barred by limitation.   The application was dismissed by Mr Justice Martin Spencer, following a three day hearing in January.  Sarah Haren KC acted for the successful respondents.
